SBI Apprentice 2026
In accordance with the Apprenticeship Act of 1961, the State Bank of India has begun hiring apprentices. This recruiting campaign will fill 7,150 apprentice positions in 34 Indian states and union territories.
Candidates can see the official notification (CRPD/APPR/2026-27/07) at www.sbi.co.in/careers, the official SBI Careers Portal. Applicants for the apprenticeship program must be between the ages of 20 and 28 and possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited university. For a year, the chosen applicants will receive apprenticeship training.

Eligibility Criteria
Three criteria are used to determine eligibility: country, age, and qualification. Candidates should thoroughly review the prerequisites before applying.
Age Limit (As on 1/4/2026)
Candidate’s age must be between 20 to 28 years as on 1st April 2026. Relaxation in the upper age limit is applicable as per the Government of India guidelines for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates.

Educational Qualification
The candidate must have completed graduation from a recognised University/ Institute.
Local Language Test
Both the eligibility and selection processes require local language proficiency. Candidates must speak the language of the area they are applying from fluently.
Those who pass the online test will be contacted for the Local Language Test, which is a prerequisite for hiring SBI apprentices. It is intended to evaluate a candidate's fluency in the official or local language of the state or union territory for which they are applying. Only those who satisfy the minimal requirements for language competency will be given further consideration.

What is an apprenticeship at SBI Bank?
A bank apprenticeship is a set-term training program administered by banks in which chosen applicants get a monthly stipend while working in actual bank branches to gain practical banking skills. Instead of hiring recent graduates as permanent workers, it enables banks like SBI to train them through on-the-job training.
Under the Apprentices Act of 1961, it is comparable to an advanced internship recognized by the government. Candidates gain practical banking experience, which aids with their comprehension of workplace culture and banking jargon.

NOTE: Candidates who qualify for the online exam will have to appear for the Local Language Test; however, candidates who have studied the local language at class 10 or 12th level will be exempted from the Local Language Test.
Salary
The monthly stipend for an apprentice at SBI is Rs. 15,000/- per month. It is not a permanent job, so benefits and allowances are not applicable for an apprenticeship.

Learning everyday operations, supporting senior personnel, managing simple tasks, keeping records, and honing technical and professional abilities are all part of the job description.
During the training period, apprentices are taught to comprehend workplace procedures, enhance their communication abilities, and obtain practical industrial experience.
1-Year Apprenticeship at SBI
The duration of the SBI Apprentice 2026 apprenticeship program is one year. Candidates chosen under this will receive apprenticeship training during this time, subject to the conditions set by the bank.
After completing the training period, candidates should be aware that the apprenticeship does not provide a permanent position at the State Bank of India. Candidates will be released from their positions in accordance with the bank's policies after finishing the apprenticeship.
