Welcome to Indian Council of Social Science Research

The Government of India's highest authority for social and human science research is the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR). ICSSR was established in 1969 and is run by the Indian government's Ministry of Education. Through programs and initiatives like research projects, doctoral, postdoctoral, senior, and national fellowships, research internships, training and capacity building of early career researchers, publication grants, national and international seminars, conferences, and workshops, publication of cutting-edge research, national and international collaboration, and promotion of social science and humanities research through research institutes, recognized institutes, and regional centers, ICSSR plays a crucial role in advancing knowledge and understanding of various social issues and challenges and offering research-based solutions to policymakers and stakeholders in the country's development. The National Social Science Documentation Centre (NASSDOC), an ICSSR documentation center, offers library and information support services to social science researchers.

ICSSR's mission is to shape the agenda of social science research across the nation and contribute to informed policymaking and societal development by promoting research excellence.




Skills Required:

Applicants must have:

  • A good understanding of research methodology and statistical tools used in social science research
  • Proficiency in data analysis
  • Strong communication skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Additionally, the ideal candidate should demonstrate strong organizational abilities and a willingness to learn and contribute effectively to research activities.

Selection Process:

Note:

1. This internship is neither a job nor does it provide any assurance of future employment with ICSSR.

3. The completed application must be submitted by 18th August, 2025 (last date to be filled in).
4. ICSSR reserves the right to modify or cancel the internship programme or the selection process, if necessary.
5. The internship will be based at ICSSR, New Delhi.
6. Very limited residential accommodation is available, only for female candidates, on a twin-sharing basis. All other candidates must make their own living arrangements during the internship period.
7. Interns will be required to work offline, 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday (9:30 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.), including a half-hour lunch break.

Senior Internship

  • Number of Vacancies : 20 (Twenty)
  • Stipend : 25,000/- P.M (Fixed)
  • Duration : Six Months
Educational Qualifications

Master’s degree with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in any discipline of Social Sciences, Humanities, or Interdisciplinary Streams from a recognized university/institution.


Junior Internship

  • Number of Vacancies : 20 (Twenty)
  • Stipend : 15,000/- P.M (Fixed)
  • Duration : Three Months

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. /B.Sc./B.com) with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in any discipline of Social Sciences, Humanities, or Interdisciplinary Streams from a recognized university/institution.

  • The candidate must have successfully completed their degree in the year 2024 or thereafter.
  • As on the date of application, the candidate must not be enrolled in or pursuing any full-time Post Graduate programme.
