Delhi Commission For Protection of Child Rights
Delhi Commission For Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) strongly believes in harnessing the power of our youngsters and takes measures to engage with them by means of their involvement in public service. We believe this is the only way a nation can develop rooted in ideals of justice, and basic dignity for all.
As a result, the Commission provides youth with internships across divisions and topics. Background research, field visits, data analytics, policy briefs and summaries, letters, notices, and summons, meeting minutes, and documentation-related support—including social media—are typically the areas in which interns assist the Commission. In addition to official travel-related reimbursements, full-time interns receive a modest stipend.

The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR) has been constituted under the Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act, 2005. It is the statutory body of the Government of Delhi on children’s issues.
Within the Commission, there are various divisions that advise the government on policy formulation and amendments, review safeguards, investigate violations, and monitor the implementation of these rights. Each of these divisions has a member at the State Government Secretary level and is mapped to the appropriate government departments. Six members serve as subordinates to the Chairperson.
About Project
There are more than one hundred Child Care Institutions (CCIs) in Delhi, both government-run and private. These institutions house nearly 5,000-6,000 children. The majority of these children are saved from difficult situations like, among others, abandonment, orphanage, child labor, early marriage, tracking, sexual violence, parental incarceration, disability, and severe bullying.
These children face significant challenges that impede their rehabilitation and reintegration, including a lack of foundational skills. Therefore, the Foundational Skills Program at these Children Homes is being organized by DCPCR in conjunction with other statutory bodies like the Child Welfare Committee and the Department of Women & Child Development.
